Dear Sister,

I am glad that you realized that the suffering on Earth is no excuse to stop believing in God.

I believe that God lets his people suffer as a test to see as to which of us is good and which of us is bad. This life is a test to see which of us holds unflinching faith in God no matter the adversity, no matter the suffering and no matter what pains and loses that we are put to. In the end its the level of faith that we have in God and the confidence that he would help us clear these tests, is what that matters.

You admit that you are a sinner. Me too. God has been merciful to us to have given us the wisdom of knowing that we are sinners. Most people don't have this privilege. For this let us be thankful to him.

Dear Sister, as far as the plans of God are concerned, let me tell you this. God never sent us on Earth to do good things or bad things or to love or to hate. This might be a bit unexpected but you have to know it as i believe that this can help ease your dilemma. If God had wanted us to do these things then there was no need for Him to put us on earth. We could have done these things in Heaven or Hell itself. But why Earth? well this is the Question i attempt to answer here.

I am sure you believe that God knows everything - The past, present and the future. So he already knows as to which of the mankind is good and which is evil. He already knows as to which of the people are going to make it to heaven or hell. When God created us, he knew all of this. He could have very well put the people belonging to hell in hell and the people belonging to heaven in heaven right away. But God is merciful so he did not do it. Also, he did not want the people of Hell to complain as to what wrong they have done to deserve hell.

So you see, this life is a test - A test for US to know what we deserve. God knows already what we deserve. But we don't. So once we complete this life on Earth we would know as to where we stand on the scale of piety and righteousness and knowing this we would not complain when we are put in either Hell or Heaven.

I believe that we have been sent on Earth to do ONLY ONE THING - and that is WORSHIP. by this i don't mean to tell you that you have to sit in one corner and chant God's name 24 hours and do nothing else. Thats an utter waste of time. Continue with your normal life. Have fun, relax and enjoy. Do good things and do what pleases you and what you believe pleases God. But do these things for the sake of God ALONE. Love for his sake. Hate for his sake. Give charity for his sake.

I believe that even a smile to a stranger done for God's sake counts as an act of worship. So you see, all we have to do is to continue our daily life with just one difference. Do everything with the intention of pleasing God. Hence we would spend the entire day in worship.

As for you exams, I hope you have done your best.

-Regards,
A well wisher
(ps: Do pray for me)
